Broadband Light Therapy

What is the downtime for a BBL?

Since this type of treatment does not break the skin there is no real downtime. The skin may be dry and light sensitive so be sure to keep it moisturized and sun-screened with at least and SPF 30. This type of BBL treatment may cause minor redness for up to 24 hours.

Does it hurt?

The discomfort that clients feel during a BBL treatment varies. Some say that it feels similar to a rubber band snap and others feel almost nothing. We offer a topical anesthetic which can be applied to the area that is being treated to minimize any discomfort.

What will I have to do after my treatment?

The skin may be dry and light sensitive as a result of the heat and light and therefore must be kept clean, moisturized and sun-screened. Here at New Image, we provide a Post Procedure Kit free of additional charge to clients who undergo this procedure. This kit provides everything needed to care for your skin post treatment to ensure proper healing. The use of at least an SPF 30 is recommended and sun exposure must be kept to a minimum for 2 weeks before and after treatment. We ask all of our clients to remember that because of the nature of vascularities, the old vessels are treated but new ones may appear over time as well as the return of brownies or sun damage. Quality, physician grade skincare and understanding what triggers your redness or age spots will keep flareups to a minimum. We have experienced that our clients have responded most favorable to SkinMedica’s line of physician grade skincare.

Will I need more than one treatment?

One treatment may be enough depending on the severity of the flushing, Rosacea, or sun damage spots. The vessels that are destroyed because of treatment will not reappear but due to the nature of vascularities others may appear over time.  Over time, the age spots will return with additional exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun or tanning.  It is very healthy for the skin to consider having a maintenance BBL at least yearly.

What other things can a BBL treat?

BBL has been used to treat sun damage, patchy discoloration, spider veins, and unwanted hair.
