Scars (MicroLaser Peel / Profaction)

What is the downtime for a scar treatment MicroLaser Peel/Profraction?

The redness and swelling that result from a MicroLaser Peel/Profraction treatment of scars most often lasts 10-14 days. Healing time depends on the health of your skin prior to treatment, depth of treatment, and what skincare products are used after procedure.

Does it hurt?

The discomfort that clients feel during a MicroLaser Peel/Profraction varies but because of the depth of this treatment medication for sedation is recommended. You may receive a topical anesthetic, an oral analgesic, anxiety medication, nerve blocks, and we offer the use the Chiller (filtered cool air) to help minimize the discomfort. Discomfort during healing time is minimal and can be treated with over the counter analgesics; such as Tylenol or ibuprofen.

What will I have to do after my treatment?

It is very important to use proper skincare after your treatment. Your skin will be very sensitive and dry so keeping your skin clean, moisturized and sun-screened is crucial. Here at New Image we include the SkinMedica Post-Procedure System for clients that undergo the MicroLaser Peel/Profraction procedure. The kit provides everything you need to take care of your skin for about 3 weeks post procedure.

Will I need more than one treatment?

You may need more than one treatment depending on the depth of the scarring. We ask all of our clients to remember that quality skincare products are key in proper healing and seeing long term results from your procedure.

What other things can a MicroLaser Peel/Profraction treat?

MicroLaser Peel/Profraction has also been used to treat skin discoloration, deep lines and wrinkles.
